Shazam! Fury of the Gods is a 2023 American superhero film based on the DC Comics character Shazam. Produced by New Line Cinema, DC Studios, Saffron Company, and Seven Box Productions and distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, the sequel to Shazam! (2019) and the 12th volume in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU). Directed by David F. Sequel to Shazam!
Development began soon after the film's release in April 2019, with Gayden returning as a writer. Sandberg and Levi (Shazam) will also return by that December. The title and the rest of the cast were confirmed in August 2020, including Asher as Billy Batson. Zeigler, Mirren, and Liu have been cast as Daughters of Atlas in early 2021. Filming began in Atlanta, Georgia in May and wrapped in August
Shazam! Fury of the Gods opened at the TCL Chinese Theater in Hollywood on March 9, 2023, and is scheduled for a United States release on March 17, 2023.
The premise:
"Shazam! Fury of the Gods" is the sequel to the 2019 superhero film "Shazam!" Its continuation. And it follows the adventures of Billy Batson, a teenage boy who can transform into an adult superhero named Shazam by chanting a magic word. In this sequel, Shazam and his foster family must face a new villainous threat.

Zachary Levy as Shazam, Asher Angel as Billy Batson, Jack Dylan Grazer as Freddy Freeman and Faith Herman, Grace Fulton, Ian Chen, and Jovan Armand as members of the foster family. New cast members include Helen Mirren as the villainous Hesperia, Lucy Liu as her sister Calypso, and Rachel Zeigler in an undisclosed role.
Development:
A sequel was officially announced in 2019, with director David F. Sandberg and writer Henry Gayden reprising their roles. The script was completed in early 2021 and filming began in May 2021.
Pre-production:
Pre-production began in late 2020 with casting announcements and location searches underway. Concepts and storyboards were also created during this phase.
Filming:
